Being about to quit Vancouver's Island for British Columbia, I have
the honor to acquaint your Grace that I have authorized the Treasurer
to procure the Sum of Three Thousand pounds (£3000) by Bills on Her
Majesty's Paymaster General for the purpose of meeting the
Requisitions which will be madeupon
upon me for funds to pay the Arrears
of Colonial Pay due to the Officers and Men of the Royal Marines now
at San Juan, as authorized in your Despatch No 37 of the 2nd July
