Pemberton to the circumstance that although since the termination of
his agreement with the
Hudsons Bay Company he has continued to act
under the Colonial Government as Surveyor
GeneralGeneral of
Vancouver Island
he has as yet received no commission confirming him in that position.
The Secretary of State being satisfied with the assurances you
have given of
M Pembertons zeal and ability is pleased to sanction
his appointment as Surveyor General, and desires me to transmit to you
the Royal
WarrantWarrant giving you the requisite authority for this purpose.
