Sir,
Understanding that some appointments in the law are about to be made in Vancouver Island and it being my intention shortly to proceed there for the purpose of practising at the bar, I beg leave to be allowed to bring myself to your notice and to ask for your favourable consideration in selecting persons to take office there.
I was called to the Bar at Lincolns Inn in June 1852, having previously been a successful candidate for honours in the voluntary annual examination then established by the Society of Grays Inn.
Since being called to the bar, though I have chiefly been occupied with the law of real property and equity, I have for some time past, studied common law and criminal law with a view of practising in one of the Colonies.
Annexed I beg to forward a few Manuscript imagetestimonials to justify and support my application to you.
