Legislative Council and House of Assembly of Vancouvers Island,which discusses the
occupation of San Juan by a Detachment of United States Troops,and notes the House of Assembly's recommendation to encourage
emigrants from the United Kingdomby adjusting
the existing law regulating the Sale price of public land in Vancouvers Island.

I have the honor of transmitting herewith for the information of
Her Majesty's Government, the copy of a Message which I
addressed to the Legislative Council and House of Assembly of
Vancouvers Island on the 3rd day of August instant and

2. I beg to call your attention to the recommendation of the
House of Assembly, that greater encouragment should be given to
emigrants from the United Kingdom than is now possible under the
existing law regulating the Sale price of public land in
Vancouvers Island, in order to
