Moody advises that the necessary amount of stores for the Royal Engineers will require the whole of the Tonnage of the Thames City and he urged strongly that no other stores in addition be conveyed in her.
The minutes copy to the Admiralty and request the dedication of a ship for the Royal Engineers and their baggage.
Merivale to the Secretary to the Admiralty forwarding a copy of Moody’s letter and requesting the ship be devoted entirely to the Royal Engineers.
I find the necessary amount of Stores to accompany the Royal Engineers to B. Columbia via Cape Horn will require the whole of the Tonnage of the "Thames City" the vessel which has been chartered and I would urge strongly that no other stores
in addition be conveyed in her.
I am inclined to fear there may not be room enough and if by watering at any place
directly in the route, more space could be gained it is desirable an arrangement to that effect should
be agreed upon.
