No. 27
13th August 1857
Sir
With reference to the letter No 19, which I had the honor of addressing you on the 29th day of June last, I informed you, that, for reasons therein mentioned, it was my intention to accompany Captain Prevost in Her Majesty's Ship "Satellite," on an official visit to the Governor of WashingtonTerritoryManuscript image Territory, and that I would give him a draft upon you for the expense of my passage to that place.
2. I have now to inform you, that after arrangements were made for my departure, I was at the last moment prevented by urgent and unexpected business; from carrying that intention into effect, and that as little expense was incurred, I have not drawn upon you for the passage.
I have the honor to be Sir
Your most obedient humble Servant
James Douglas
Governor

The Right Honble Henry Labouchere Esqre
Her Majesty's principal Secretary of State
For the Colonial Department.
