the Patriotic Fund;Douglas then states his intention to establish a Committee, in this Colony, to collect subscriptions for the fund.
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Circular
Despatch of the 23rd of January last, transmitting copy of the Letters Patent, under the Royal Sign Manual, constituting
the Royal
Commission of the Patriotic Fund, and I shall take immediate steps for
giving publicity to the Royal Commission, and to establish a local
Committee in this Colony for the purpose of collecting subscriptions, in
aid of the benevolent objects to which the said Fund is to be applied.
