Douglas writes to Grey to acknowledge Grey's earlier despatch, which advises of Grey's appointment as one of the Principal Secretaries of State, and carer for the seals of the Colonial Department.

I have to acknowledge the receipt on the 28th Ultimo of your Circular Despatch of the 12th of June last, informing that Her Majesty had been pleased to entrust to your care, as one of the Principal Secretaries of State, the seals of the Colonial Department, an appointment which I have duly noted, and made public for the information of Her Majesty's subjects in this Colony.
