De Cosmos and Courtney to Secretary of State
Victoria, B.C.
May 19th 1870
In behalf of a Public Meeting held in Victoria Theatre on May
13th 1870, with reference to the suspension of the Honorable
Thomas Basil Humphreys, of which we were respectively the
Chairman and Secretary; we have the honor to transmit the
accompanying resolution that was passed nearly unanimously on
that occasion.
Herewith are also two copies of the Evening News, dated
respectively May 11th and May 14th 1870; the first shewing
that due notice was given of the Meeting, and the second
containing a report of the same.
Documents enclosed with the main document (not transcribed)
Resolution passed at a public meeting in Victoria, 13 May 1870,
expressing opposition to the suspension of Thomas Basil
Humphreys from the Legislative Council. Signed by De Cosmos and
Courtney on behalf of the meeting [no indication of how many
attended].
