Offices of the Crown Agents for the Colonies
Spring Gardens, London, S.W.
10 June 1869
Sir,
In continuation of my letter of the 27th April last, I have the honor to report, for Earl Granville's information, that the Crown Agents have since that date received from the Government of British Columbia further remittances amounting to the sum of £4000, which, with the balance standing to the credit of that Colony in the Books of this Office, will be sufficient to meet the interest falling due on the 1st and 15th proximo.

The contributions to the various Sinking Funds have been paid up to the close of last year, but those due in January and April last, amounting in all to £5175, are still in arrear, and the further sum of £4050 will be due on the same account on the 15th proximo.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient Servant

The interest due on the 1st & 15th July—namely £4200—were the 1st payments the Crown Agents were to make. Then subsequent remittances were to go to the payment of the arrears of Sinking Fund—which after the 15th July will, unless further remittances are recd—amount to £9223.

So far so good. Send copy to Governor, reminding him of terms of despatch of 12 April, with respect to application of remittances to Sinking Fund (to extent of £8000) before further interest is paid.
