Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch No. 75
of the 28th of July respecting the postal arrangements which exist on
the part of British Columbia with the United Kingdom,the the Dominion of
Canada and the United States.
In reply I transmit to you for your information and guidance a copy
of a letter from the [Postmaster] General to whom your despatch was
referred, and I have to request that you will furnish me with the
information desired by His Grace with regard to the amount paid for the
conveyance of the British Columbia Mails between San Francisco and
Victoria from the 17thof of January to the 1st of June last.
