With reference to Mr Julyan's letter of the 8th instant,
I have the honor to report, for the information of Earl
Granville, that the Crown Agents have now received a remittance
from the Government of British Columbia of £3000, in Admiralty
Bills at 3 days sight.
The amount still required by the Crown Agents to meet the
liabilities in this Country of the Governmentof of that Colony is
therefore £6265.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient servant, W.C. Sargeaunt
Mr Cox
I saw Mr Lowe on the subject of the British Columbia Loans
this morning & he was of opinion that as the £3,000 had
been received the C.O. should withdraw their letter to Treasury.
I have initialed the drafts, but I should have thought it would
be right to allude in both of them, to the fact that the Crown
Agents will be overdrawn 100£ on the Interest account.
Rogers to Crown Agents, 30 December 1868,
instructing Agents to use funds received, and
funds already on hand, to pay interest due on loans. No monies
to be directed towards the Sinking Fund.
Minutes by CO staff
Sir F. Rogers
This £3000 & the £1110 the Agents have in hand will not quite
cover what is due for interest of £4200.
