The Postmaster General of this Colony has received from the
General Post Office in
London a letter dated
28 28 of
October, in which it is stated that letters posted in England
would be forwarded to
British Columbia whether prepaid or
unpaid. It is suggested that the same course should be followed
in the Colony with regard to letters addressed to the United Kingdom.
2. I would beg leave to point out that an adherence to the
proposal made by the
Duke of Montrose to the
Treasury Treasury on the
12 of August 1867, would be much more convenient to the
Colony. His Grace proposes that both the Mother Country and the
Colony shall keep all the postage they may collect. I
understand this to mean compulsory prepayment which saves a
great deal of trouble.
