My Lord Duke,
I have had the honor to receive Your Grace's despatch No. 95 of the 26th October, acknowledging the receipt of some reports from theDistrictManuscript image District Magistrates of this Colony.
2. It was my intention to have forwarded all the monthly reports of the Magistrates but I find—especially at this time of the Year—that the Majority of the Returns are of so uninteresting a character, that I shall only lay before Your Grace those that possess some special interest.TheManuscript image The enclosed letter from Mr O'Reilly, Gold Commissioner of the Kootenay district, reporting the discovery of an apparently rich and extensive Gold field may be worthy of Your Grace's perusal.
