I have the honor to inform Your Grace that I have returned for a
time to
New Westminster, the old capital of
British Columbia.
Although
Although I have decided the question of the Seat of Government
in favor of
Victoria, I found no signs of bad feeling here. On
the contrary, mixing freely with the people, I have been
everywhere well received.
2. Your Grace will be pleased to learn that this town, though
suffering of course from the loss of the Public expenditure
consequent on
the the change is not so depressed as I anticipated.
The people have accepted the new state of things with their
usual energy and made arrangements to meet it.
