Sir,
I am desired by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's
Treasury to acquaint you that a Bill for £1,500 drawn by the
Governor & Treasurer of Vancouver Island for Pay &c of Royal
Marines on San Juan Island has been left at the Office of the
Paymaster-General, and I am to request that you will move the
Secretary of State to inform My Lords whether this Bill should
be accepted and paid.

This is the usual 1/2 yearly payment for the Marines at S. Juan—it is a charge payable from Imperial Funds. We have not as yet recd the usual notification from the Govr of the drawing of this Bill—but his despatches have stopped somewhere on the road. Answer
