With reference to your letter of
31 ultimo I have to report
for the information of the
Earl of Carnarvon, that in obedience
to His Lordships instructions I have applied to
Capt Kennedy
for information as to the extent and value of the Land erroneously
cut off from the Public Park at
Victoria,
Vancouver Island, and
sold by the Hudson Bay C.
Capt Kennedy, however, states that
in the absence of any documents to which he could refer, he is unable
to give any reliable information on the subject. I apprehend that
under these circumstances it will be necessary to apply to the Colony
for the particulars required for the settlement of the question.
