I transmit, herewith, the copy of a letter from Mrs. M.A. Cooper
requesting to know to whom she should address an enquiry in Vancouver Island respecting a person, unnamed, who has recently died there.
I have to request that you will enable me to answer this enquiry.

I observe that no reply has been received to the Second paragraph
of my Predecessor's Despatch No. 38, of the 11th August 1865, asking
what assistance the local Authorities could render to persons in this
Country desirous of procuring information respecting the existence of
their relatives in Vancouver Island.
