Seymour to Elliot (Assistant Under-Secretary)
London
25 June 1866
Sir,
I have had the honor to receive your letter of the 22 instant relative to an application made for Mr Robert Ker, Auditor for British Columbia, to be permited to become one of the Board of Directors of the Colonial Securities Company.
I am disposed to think that this permission ought not to be given. Under the present constitution of the colonyManuscript image the colonial accounts are not examined by any legislative Commitee, the Auditor must consequently run no risk of impairing the confidence which the public repose in him.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient
humble Servant
Frederick Seymour
