I have the honor to report that the Acting Consul at San
Francisco has informed me by Telegraph that all the British Columbian Mail Bags which left England by the Mail of the 3rd

were lost in the wreck of the Hudson Bay Company's
Steamer "Labouchere" on the 14th Instt.

2. No hope can be entertained that any portion of the Mail
will be recovered, as the vessel is reported to have foundered
in 60 fathoms water at a distance of 10 miles from the shore.
