Despatch to London.
Minutes (2), Enclosures (untranscribed) (2), Other documents (1).
No. 109
15th September 1865
Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of the Duplicate
of your despatch No. 33 of 10th June, purporting to enclose a
Letter from the Lords Commissoners of the Treasury requiringfurther
further information relative to the Supplementary Supply Ordinance
No. 18 of 1864.
2. As you are already aware from Governor Seymour's despatch
No. 102 of 26th August, the Original of this despatch was lost
in the wreck of the "Brother Jonathan" and no enclosure accompanied
the duplicate. I am, therefore, unaware what details may be
required by their Lordships.
3. The information desiredin in your despatch is furnished by
the Auditor General in a Report which I have the honor to enclose,
and I would beg leave to refer you to the General Report relating
to the Financial transactions of the year 1864, which accompanied
my despatch No. 108 of 14th September. The Explanatory Statements
appended to this Report are so full and so carefully drawn up that
it [is] probable they contain all the information requiredby by the
Lords Commissoners of Her Majesty's Treasury.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient
humble Servant Arthur N. Birch
Minutes by CO staff
Mr Elliot
Copies of this Desp: & enclosures with the Auditor's Report
to which Mr Birch refers (enclosure in 10730) should be sent
to the Treasury? With regard to the remark that the Treasury
letter did not accompany the Duplicate, it has not hitherto
been the practice to send duplicate enclosures, but it will
no doubt be safer to do so in future.
Documents enclosed with the main document (not transcribed)
Robert Ker, Auditor General, to Colonial Secretary, 29 August
1865, explaining the source of revenue to be used to cover
supplemental expenditure.
"Recapitulation of the Abstracts of Revenue Received
during the Year 1864," showing a total colonial revenue of
£104,865.4.1, signed by Ker, 29 August 1865.
Other documents included in the file
