I have the honor to forward Copy of an interesting and highly
satisfactory letter received from
M John Ogilvy, the Constable
and Collector of Customs at
Bella Coola,
North Bentinck Arm.
M
M Ogilvy held the second Command in
M Cox's Volunteer
force after
M MLean was shot by the Indians, and was
appointed to his present post by myself.
2. It is gratifying to see how well placed has been the
mercy which
M Brew extended to , the Chief of the
Western Branch of the Chilicoten tribe and how sore pressed
are the murderers still at large.
