Despatch from London.
Cardwell acknowledges receipt of Seymour’s report and informs Seymour that he is
glad to learn that [Seymour] anticipate[s] no difficulty in settling the question… of exclusive privileges to the California State Telegraph Company.

Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch No. 62
of the 13th of October, from which I am glad to learn that you
anticipate no difficulty in settling the question to which the grant of
exclusive privileges to the California State Telegraph Company had given
rise, and which if injudiciously treated might have become embarrassing.
You will no doubt
communicate with Governor Kennedy on any point on the
subject of this Telegraph, requiring your joint consideration and
action.
