Cardwell acknowledges receipt of Douglas’s despatch which encloses
a congratulatory Address from the Legislative Council of British Columbia on the birth of a son to the Prince and Princess of Wales.Cardwell comments that the prince has received it with
much satisfaction.

Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of Sir J. Douglas's
despatch No. 20 of the 12th of April enclosing a congratulatory Address
from the Legislative Council of British Columbia on the birth of a son
to the Prince and Princess of Wales.
You will havethe
the goodness to inform the Legislative Council that I
caused their Address to be communicated to His Royal Highness the Prince
of Wales, and that His Royal Highness received with much satisfaction
