Cardwell informs Seymour that if the Office of Colonial Secretary of
Honduras becomes available it may be offered to Seymour’s
private secretary Captain G. W. Holmes.

Sir
I have to acquaint you that the Lieutenant Government of St. Vincent
vacant by the appointment of Lieutt Governor Musgrave to the Government
of Newfoundland has been offered to Mr. Berkeley theColonial
Colonial Secretary
of Honduras. In the event of Mr. Berkeley's acceptance of the Lieutenant
Government of St. Vincent the Office of Colonial Secretary of Honduras
will become vacant, and I authorize you to offer it to Captain Holmes,
your Private Secretary and Aide-de-Camp.
