Despatch from London.
Newcastle informs Seymour that the Imperial Government will not change their opinion regarding the cost of
buildings for the Royal Engineers in British Columbia. England maintains that BC should pay for the erection of the buildings.

Sir,
I have received your Predecessor's despatch No. 8 of the 10th of
February enclosing a Resolution of the Legislative Council in which they
impress upon the Imperial Government the hardship of compelling the Colony to
pay the sum of £10,704.16.7 for the erection of Buildingslately

Upon this subject I have to acquaint you that Her Majesty's Government do not
feel themselves at liberty to deviate from the conclusion at which they
have arrived, and which was communicated to Sir James Douglas in my
