I have received your Predecessor's despatch No. 8 of the
10th of
February enclosing a Resolution of the Legislative Council in which they
impress upon the Imperial Government the hardship of compelling the Colony to
pay the sum of £10,704.16.7 for the erection of Buildings
lately lately
occupied by the Royal Engineers.
Upon this subject I have to acquaint you that Her Majesty's Government do not
feel themselves at liberty to deviate from the conclusion at which they
have arrived, and which was communicated to
Sir James Douglas in my
despatches No. 131 of
16th June 1861and and Nos. 13 and 56 of
18th February
and
2nd Octr 1863.
