Head acknowledges receipt of a notice asking that Dr. Rae be given
any aidin his expedition to discover a suitable telegraph route from the Red River Settlement to New Westminster.

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter
of the 29th ultimo transmitting a copy of a despatch from
the Governor of British Columbia enclosing copy of a notice
which he had issued calling upon all Magistrates, Constables
and other public officers to furnish Dr Rae with any aid
which he might require in surveying theroute
