I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of your despatch No. 27 of
the
13th of May last, enclosing, together with other proclamations, the
following vizt. No. 3,
1863 The Road Tolls Extension Act issued the
23rd
of February 1863.
No. 4
1863 The Gold Fields Act issued the
25th of March 1863 and a
Proclamation
entitled entitled "Rates and Regulations issued in conformity with
the Gold Fields Act
1859" issued the
24th of February 1863.
I have discovered no ground of objection to the three Proclamations
above described, but I think it best to defer advising Her Majesty
formally to sanction them until it shall appear that they work in a
manner acceptable to the settlers.
