With reference to your letter of 30th July relative to a proclamation which had been issued by the Governor of British Columbia, substituting for a remission in the purchase money of Land grants of a fixed extent, intheManuscript image the case of Naval and Military Officers, I am directed by the Secretary of State for War to transmit to you for the information of the Duke of Newcastle the enclosed copy of a letter from the India Office and to request that you will move His Grace to inform Earl de Grey whether he sees any objection to the terms & conditions of the grants of Land in British ColumbiaManuscript image being announced by the Government of India, as applicable to the Officers of Her Majesty's Indian Army.
