I have to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch N 212 of the
8 September enclosing a letter from
Colonel Moody requesting that a
Commissariat
Officer Officer may be sent out to
British Columbia at an early
date to undertake the charge of all matters connected with Commissariat
expenditure.
I have referred the subject to the Secretary of State for War, who
agrees with me in thinking that there is no necessity at present for
sending out such an Officer, and that
Captain Gosset who combines with
the appointment of Treasurer that of Commissariat Officer to the Royal
Engineers
may
may very well continue to perform the duties which you report
that you have provisionally assigned to him.
