With reference to your Letter of the 16th Inst.,
relative to a Bill drawn by Mr W.A. Young, Colonial
Secretary in British Columbia, for the sum of £250; I am
directed by the Lords Commissoners of Her Majesty's Treasury,
to acquaint you, for the information of the Duke of Newcastle,
that the Paymaster General has been instructed to accept and
pay the Bill in question.
I
I am to add that the Bill is stated to be drawn for the
service of the Government of Vancouver's Island, and that
Their Lordships presume that it has reference to some
expenditure distinct from the service of British Columbia.
