Newcastle advises that the Treasury has accepted Douglas's bills for
Colonial pay to the Royal Engineers,
the Royal Marines,and
army services.

With reference to your despatch No 166 of the 6th of June I
have to acquaint you that the Lords Commissoners of the Treasury have
authorized the Paymaster General to accept and pay the Bills drawn upon
himfor
for Five thousand two hundred pounds (£5,200) on account of Colonial
pay to the Royal Engineers and for One thousand two hundred pounds
(£1,200) on account of working pay to the Royal Marines. I shall have
occasion to address you in a separate despatch respecting the later
charge.
