Enclosed is a draft from Merivale to G. A. Hamilton, Treasury, 21 March 1859, asking that £150 be issued to Cary as a salary advance to defray passage costs to the colony.

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your Lordships letter of the tenth instant and to request that you will inform Sir Edward Bulwer Lytton that I have great pleasure in accepting the office of Her Majesty's Attorney General for British Columbia and that I shall be prepared Manuscript imageto start for my destination on the second proximo.
