               enclosing Copy of a letter from 
Captain Parsons, reporting his arrival at 
Panama and stating the
               actual and probable expenses of transporting his party to
               
British Columbia, I am directed by the 
Lords Commissioners
                  of Her Majesty's Treasury to acquaint you, for the
               information of 
Sir E.B. Lytton, that My Lords have, since
               the first advance of £540 to 
Captain Parsons, authorized the Paymaster General, by their letter
               to him of the 
6 Inst; to accept and pay a bill for
               £823 drawn by 
Capt Parsons for the Passage of his
               party of Royal Engineers from 
Panama to 
San Francisco,
               and They will direct
the
 the acceptance of further Bills to
               the extent of £277, which with the sum of £1323 already
               issued, will make up the amount of £1600.
