Sir,
With reference to your letter of the 28th of August last, 1 I am directed by the Earl of Malmesbury to transmit to you herewith, for the information of Secretary Sir Edward Lytton a copy of a Despatch from Mr Booker, Her Majesty's Consul at San Francisco, stating that he had requested Captain Parsons of the Royal Engineers to take charge of the Bag of Despatches sent in August last to his care fortheManuscript image the Governor of British Columbia.
