Colonial Brewery

One of the original breweries in Victoria, the Colonial Brewery, was opened in 1859 by Arthur Bunster. It was located on Johnson Street and was one of the larger breweries on the island.  It was destroyed by fire in 1868 and rebuilt the same year. Bunster employed professional brewers to run the brewery.  The Brewery was later bought by the original brew master John Leahy, and then James Gibson.  It was closed in 1897.
