This is how the reading exercises work:

Each exercise consists of a reading text (which may be prose or a dialog), and a set of multiple-choice questions. Many words in the text are automatically glossed. If you see a brown word, put your mouse over it for a couple of seconds and you'll see a tooltip gloss. If a word is green, there will be both a popup gloss, and a link to another Website with extra background information. A red word is just a link to another site. Here's an example piece from the first reading:

   ὁ Σώκρατης Ἀθηναῖός ἐστιν. ὁ Σώκρατης ἐν ταῖς Ἀθήναις οἰκεῖ μετά τῆς γυναῖκος καὶ μετά τῶν παῖδων. ἡ γυνή Ξάνθιππη ἐστιν. ἡ γυνή ὀλβία αἰεί ἐστιν · ὁ γὰρ Σώκρατης ἐστιν οὐδέποτε κατ'οἶκον. ὁ γὰρ Σώκρατης ἐν τῇ ἀγορᾷ, ἀλλά οὐδέποτε μετά τῶν παῖδων ἐστι κατ'οἶκον.
