UVic Humanities Week is an annual, week-long series of events designed to showcase the critical and creative research of our faculty and students while provoking our audience to reflect on urgent contemporary social and cultural topics.

Humanities Week returns February 3–11, 2026. We are excited to announce a series of online and hybrid events on the topic of Artificial Intelligence (AI). With this theme, we invite you to explore how the development of AI technologies intersects with culture, society, ethics, and human rights. Join us for two public conversations with leading scholars, a student-centred discussion of AI in the classroom and the world, and the return of our Unessay Competition.

All events are free and open to the public. Registration is required (see event pages).
