Univeristy of Victoria Humanities Week, 2023
What can food tell us about some of the most pressing concerns of this historical moment—colonialism, capitalism, globalization, consumption, sovereignty, justice, climate? Six speakers will have just 5 minutes each to show how one everyday food has its own story to tell about one or more of these critical and timely subjects.
Audience members will be invited to engage with these foods and the panelists who have chosen them, in an event that promises to inspire and provoke critical reflection about the intersections of food and culture, history, inter-connection and the ethical consequences of human actions.
