Welcome to Greek and Roman Studies Images
Greek & Roman Studies Images hosts a collection of projector slides originally compiled by the Greek and Roman Studies department at the University of Victoria.
The original website was created by Greg Newton at the University of Victoria Humanities Computing and Media Centre. The staticization of the site was done by Illya Nokhrin, with Martin Holmes as technical advisor. Metadata cleanup and improvements were completed by Cameron Stirling, in consultation with John Oleson and Brendan Burke.
The updated website provides three main ways of viewing the data and images. There is a gallery page which displays all of the images on the site with options to filter which images are displayed. There is also a map view which allows you to explore the images by their site of origin. Finally, there is a search page where you can search for specific slides either via plain-text search or by using metadata filters
You will need to log in using a University of Victoria Netlink ID in order to view the images on the site. The website itself does not store any user data or credentials. The website should prompt you for your Netlink ID the first time you encounter a page that contains an image. If it does not do so, reload the page in your browser.
Not all slides have images associated with them. If you would like to contribute images to the project, please see the list of slides currently without images and/or contact the HCMC team
The static site uses staticSearch. See the About page for more information.
