Translation
As it was Shrovetide this week, the court
was occupied with the usual diversions. His
Majesty returned to the city
last Saturday, and
the Prince
’s most recent masque was performed again on Tuesday. The French ambassador was once
more there,
along with his wife and mademoiselle de San Luc,
his niece. The ambassador of Bohemia, together with the person sent by the Protestant
Princes of the Union of Germany, was also present. However, he did not sit close to
the King
, as did the French ambassador, but
rather as friends of his Majesty’s household,
and above all the nobility of the realm.
