Report of preparations for
the Prince
's masque, in a dispatch sent home by the Tuscan agent
Amerigo Salvetti
, dated 27 [i.e. 17] Dec. 1619. The
dispatch occupies six pages (extract on p. 6) and includes a copy of a letter in French
by the Elector Palatine.

The Prince
together with the Marquis [of
Buckingham
]
and other lords is preparing the usual masque for the Christmas festivities, but they
will hardly be
able to give a fine performance as they lack an adequate room, since the great royal
hall burnt down last year.
