[fol. 44]

on shrouetewsday the Princes maske for twelfnight was represented again with some few alterations and additions, but litle bettered: on thursday night the gentlemen of Grayes ynne came to the court with theyre shew, (for I cannot call yt a maske seeing they were not disguised nor had visards,) for the rest, theyre fashion and deuise was well approued, though yt were thought to be somwhat out of season to reuell in Lent, the cause wherof was that they wold not be turned into the hall as was apointed on shroue-monday, by reason that the Princes shewes and deuises could not be set vp and orderly placed in so short time, yf they shold possesse the banquetting roome the night before: but seeing no reasons nor perswasions wold serue the y turne, they must of necessitie be put of till thursday, or some longer time.

[fol. 44v]

The Quene was not present at either of them but kepes close at Denmarke house;
