Preparations for
Prince Charles
's masque, reported in a dispatch sent home by the Tuscan agent

, on 24 [i.e. 14] Nov. 1617. It occupies two pages in a single folded sheet of paper
(extract on fol. 2).
Il Principe e’ restato addietro per dare ordine ad un’ suo balletto, che prepara per
questo Natale, et fra quindici giorni andra’ a’ trouare Il Re in campagna, uedendosi
da poco tempo in qua crescere molto nel amore et fauore del padre, cosa che potrebbe
impedire la grandezza di qualche d’ uno altro
Translation
The Prince
stayed behind to arrange his masque, which he is preparing for this Christmas. He
will go to see the King
in the country in a fortnight. He rises in his father’s love and favour, which might
prevent somebody else from becoming too great.
