Now whilst we are thus doubtfull what will bee the issue of our Treaty in spayne there
hath fallen out an

accident, whic h on the other side hath embroyled vs with
France
, by reason of the discontentment which the French Ambassado r here tooke, for that the Spanishe Ambassado r onely was invited this yeere to the Mask he not contenting himself to haue beene
invited the two last yeares together; but stood upon it to haue still that fauour
donne him to the exclusion of the Spanishe Ambassado r contrary to that order which had beene formerly practised of inviting them alternatiuely. And he hath made such
passionate reporte into
France
of the preiudice, which he pretendeth his Majesties honour hath receaued therby, as hereupon there hath beene commandment sent hither
for his revocation, by which meanes & other disgusts on both sides matters are brought to that ill state, as
it will not be so easy to repayre againe.
