A letter from Earl of Rochester to Lord Clifford , coercing the latter to take part in a forthcoming tilt. The undated letter is printed in T. D. Whitaker's History ... of Craven, where it appears between correspondence dated 1611 and 1613.

My Lord,
The king will by no meanes dispense w'th your runninge at tilt; and, for my payrt, if I might advyse you respectinge the state of your father's bussinesse, I would by no meanes have you excuse your selfe, for that I am sure would better please your enemies. So, promissinge to your lo. all rednisse in me to value to his m'ty your cair to do him honnor and servise at this marriage, I rest your lo. assured friend,
