Entries among payments relating to works carried out at Whitehall in the Declared
Accounts of

, Paymaster of the Works, from 1 Oct. 1613 to 30 Sept. 1614. Presented by
Margaret Kerwyn
,
Andrew Kerwyn
's widow and administratrix. General note of preparations for three masques in the
banqueting house; payment for
hanging canvas to protect fencers from the sun among payments for Emptions and
Provisions; payments to watchmen in the Tiltyard among payments for Wages and
Entertainments; concluding note of charges for the masques. The account seems to have
been endorsed some years after it was drawn up because, unusually, the endorsement
is
dated. The item on fol. 4v has not previously been connected to Challenge. This MS
is calendared under Irish, and some of this material
is repeated there.
