Cecil family's book of Agents' Accounts from 1608 to 1611, belonging to Mr
Houghton. These household accounts appear in a folio-sized book, and were
drawn up every six months. They relate mainly to Salisbury House and Hatfield House,
and detail purchases of land, revenue
accrued from interest, and payment of wages and rents.
Summary account of expenses
relating to the entertainment, dating from Oct. 1608 to Jan. 1609; payment for
rewards and gifts, dated 31 July 1609; payments to tradesmen, dating from April to
Aug. 1609; expenses incurred by the visit of the king
, queen and prince, dating from April to July 1609. (Note: some of these
abstracts are attributed only tentatively to Burse.)
