The Body and the Page Victoria, British Columbia, Canada 26-28 July, 2018

We recommend the following accommodation options for the conference: 1) On-campus UVic housing and 2) downtown Victoria hotels. Delegates should be aware that the downtown area is 7 km from UVic. There are regular buses that run from downtown to the university; a day pass costs $5.00. Taxi fare from downtown to the university is $28 approx., not including tip.

On-Campus UVic Housing

On-campus housing is located across the road from the campus conference location. We have reserved a room block of 50 beds in total with a mix of dormitory rooms, cluster units,* and apartments. The majority of rooms blocked are single dormitory rooms. Any delegates interested in booking a cluster unit or an apartment should book early.

The rates below will be available for reservations booked by June 25, 2018. Rooms rates will apply three days before and after the conference dates and are subject to applicable taxes:

Rates are per night, and are subject to applicable taxes.

*Cluster units are self-contained four-bedroom units with a kitchen (no microwave), living and dining areas, four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and one shower. Each bedroom can be locked and contains a single bed, desk, and dresser. Wireless internet is available. Card-operated laundry facilities are located nearby.

Deluxe units include dishes and kitchen supplies.
Premium units include dishes, kitchen supplies, and TVs with cable.

Housekeeping service is provided every fourth day for short-term stays only.

Downtown Victoria Hotels

We have arranged preferential rates at two hotels but have not secured room blocks because of the financial risk to our organizations. This means that delegates must book early to secure a room reservation, especially given that the conference coincides with high tourist season in a destination city.

Both recommended hotels are within walking distance from city buses that go directly to the university.

Chateau Victoria

The Chateau Victoria (a three-star hotel) is two blocks from the main bus route to UVic and within walking distance of downtown attractions. It features a spa and pool, a rooftop restaurant, and a cocktail lounge.

There will be 30 rooms ($230 per night plus taxes) and 20 one-bedroom suites ($299 per night plus taxes) available for July 25 to 29. This space will be held up to 45 days prior to arrival.

When booking, please use ID #199450.

Hotel Grand Pacific

The Hotel Grand Pacific (a four-star hotel) is six blocks from the main bus route to UVic and looks out over Victoria's Inner Harbour. It features an excellent fitness facility and pool, a restaurant and terrace, a lounge, and a courtyard cafe.

There will be 20 to 30 rooms available at $259 per night plus taxes. Rates for a signature guest room, newly renovated, start at $279 plus taxes.

When booking, please say you are with The Body and the Page conference.
