Martin and I attended the Digital Humanities Conference in Oulu, Finland and presented our paper describing the development and use of Transformer.

The conference ran from June 25th until June 28th. My general response is that it was excellent; HCMC R&D should be participating in it every year. It covers as wide a range of disciplines and subjects as we do, and does a very good job of it.

Turned my outline/notes into a Web-based presentation for DH 2008.

I find I've volunteered for a TEI panel at DH, and I have to do five-to-eight minutes on something, so I'm doing <appInfo> and <application> (which were my idea). I've written some notes today, and I'll turn it into an actual presentation tomorrow.

Worked with Martin this morning sprucing up the DH2008 presentation, adding incremental visibility to most lists used in the presentation and the CSS to go along with it. Added a Thanks! final page, which was kind of painful; a result of the tight JS/CSS integration.

Greg and I worked on our Rescue presentation for June:

• We wrote the presentation outline, abstracting key points from the abstract to get it down to something that'll work in 20 minutes.
• We decided on S5 as the presentation method (browser-based, cross-platform, etc.).
• I started building the presentation content, along with notes from the abstract, and some new graphics.
• Greg worked on the presentation details, aiming to have a consistent and attractive HCMC/UVic theme we can use in all our presentations.

I added a bit of rewording in the parts about the IMT, and also a elaborated a couple of slightly vague references and added biblio entries, then uploaded a zip package with ODF, PDF, text and images. Done!
